Geysha Tomassone (@geyshaloveshair) of the Joseph Kenneth salon (@salonjosephkenneth) Marlton, NJ, says this client is a regular. "She wanted something fun so we opted for  silver/grey. By looking at her style, I felt that she could totally pull off that shade." With this type of color, Tomassone always explains that this is high maintence and needs to be pre-lightened to the palest blonde possible before toning. In this case, she had to pre-lighten twice.

Formula:

First round of lightener:

STEP 1: Roots: 40vol + Wella Blondor + 1/8 Olaplex.

STEP 2: Mids to ends: 30vol + Blondor + 1/8 Olaplex.

STEP 3: Process for 45-55 minutes.

Second round of lightener:

STEP 4: Roots: 30vol + Blondor + 1/8 Olaplex.

STEP 5: Mids/ends: 20vol + Blondor + 1/8 Olaplex.

STEP 6: Process 30-40 minutes. After processing, shsmpoo and towel dry. Apply Redken Shades EQ 9V for 5 minutes to tone all the unwanted warmth. Dry the hair.

STEP 7: Apply Kenra Professional Silver Metallic 7sm + 2 inches violet booster for root shadow melting it with 10sm + 1 inch violet booster. Process for 30 minutes.

To keep the shade fresh, Tomassone recommends L'Oreal Professionnel Vitamino Shampoo and Conditioner and Clairol Shimmer Lights Purple shampoo "to help maintain the cool tones in her once a week."
