Jennifer Haynes (@metta1980) based at Casablanca Conscious Beauty, Burlington, Ontario , Canada, went for it. "My client came in for her regular 6 week touch up," she says. "I had been doing the same thing on her hair for a number of years (901+8 with hand painted highlights). Feeling confident that I could make her fall in love with copper, I presented her with my idea.
I wanted to make her a redhead but also wanted her to still feel like she had lighter hair. She immediately said yes." Here Haynes shares how she created this beautiful autumn copper, with dimension courtesy the existing highlights:

Step 1: Using Davines, mix 20g/8.34 + 10g/8.22 + 5g/4.5* =20 vol ("I added the 8.22 to soften the gold copper but not to neutralize it - no Ronald Macdonald hair here! The dark mahogany was added for depth. TIP: mix the level 4 first. Swirl around the bowl, then grab a clean brush to mixed the rest.")

Step 2: Apply in small sections ("This client has dense hair.") Begin application in the back, applying roots to ends. Continue to work to the front, mixing a fresh batch if necessary.

Step 3: Process for 35 minutes.

Step 4: At the shampoo basin, fully emulsify and rinse thoroughly.

Step 5: Finish with Davines Alchemic (red) conditioner to seal the cuticle and add an extra boost of shine.

"I love doing transformational colour," says Haynes, "especially on regular clientele. It's easy for both the client and stylist to get stuck in a routine."
