SAG Award How-tos

Average Rating: (3)

The award season just keeps on giving great hair! The SAG Awards brought us everything from classy up-dos to loose, full locks. The one theme: none of them looked overdone and overstyled. Just simply beautiful hair. Here are three hits from the evening: Helen, Jenna and Jane.

SAG Awards How-tosHelen Mirren
All hail the Queen! For a sophisticated and elegant update of "Bridgette Bardot," the always flawless Mirren turned to Bowman.

1. Start by spritzing styling spray from root to end. Bowman likes to use René Furterer Vegetal Styling Spritz.
2. Then, do a very full blow out using a small round brush. Set the hair as  you dry it.
3. Next, use a dry shampoo, spraying it on the roots as you backcomb to create full texture.
4. Finally, pin hair into a French twist with a little extra height at the crown. Leave any pieces that fall out to give a modern edge to a classic style.

SAG Awards How-tosJenna Fischer

Usual girl-next-door and "The Office" actress Fischer rocked a bombshell bun styled by Bertrand W. of Tracey Mattingly. "Jenna wanted to wear her hair up to accentuate the neckline on her dress. She also wanted something soft and sophisticated."

1. Start off by blowing hair out straight.
2. Then, part hair on the “going up” angle (from the forehead to the back) for the most flattering part.
3. Next, sweep hair sideways and spritz it into place using a glossing spray. Betrand suggests René Furterer Glossing Spray. Make sure hair isn't too flat or too tight, which would make it look severe.
4. Brush hair from left to right and form a low, side ponytail.
5. Then, tease the pony to give it a stronger base for anchoring bobby pins.
5. Brush along the part of the ponytail to smooth the hair and give it shape. Then, secure it with the bobby pins.
6. Finished with glossing spray to smooth down any flyaways.

SAG Awards How-tosJane Krakowski

Stylist Creighton Bowman of Exclusive Artists gave the "30 Rock" actress what he termed "a modern Veronica Lake." Here's how he did it.

1. First, use a styling spray on the hair from root to end.
2. Then, Using a large round brush, blow out hair and create a deep side part giving extra lift to the crown.
3. With a curling iron, create Veronica Lake-esque finger-waved pin curls.
4. After cooling, brush out the curls and secure them in place with a finishing spray (Bowman likes René Furterer Instant Hold Finishing Spray) to turn finger-waves into a loose, messy curl for a disheveled and sexy style.
