Peter Coppola at Global Beauty

Peter Coppola was the hottest exhibitor at the Global Beauty Show which debuted this week at the Jacob Javits Center in New York.  The Boca Raton salon owner had the busiest booth where he launched Keratin Complex Hair Therapy Smoothing System by Coppola, the newest and most exciting answer to the controversial Brazilian hair straightening system.  The crowds were gathered as much to learn more about the product as they were about being in the presence of Coppola, a Home Shopping Network star.  “It’s actually kind of embarrassing,” says Coppola.  “People come up and ask to have their pictures taken with me or to sign autographs!  It’s a little shocking.”

Even more shocking was the excitement over the product (keratincomplex.com or 888-409-4445).  Salon owners and stylists were lining up to learn more about the new service.  Models were lining up to have it done.   I had a chance to watch it in action and was truly impressed.

The Keratin Complex formula offers the same silky result with its high percentage of keratin which is infused into the cuticle.   “It’s all about the natural keratin,” says Coppola.  “We are able to achieve these results without the formaldehyde in the Brazilian product.  This is clearly safer and we get amazing results.”

This is the way it works:  the hair is shampooed with a dedicated product.  Once dry, the complex is applied to the hair and pressed into small sections using an iron that is 450 degrees.  After processing, the client cannot shampoo her hair for 3 days.  The effects last three to five months and “wear  out” leaving no line of demarcation.  It can be used on color treated hair and works on all textures.

Maybe I’m a sucker, but it looked fantastic.  I spoke to one of the models who said her hair never looked or felt so silky.  The hair truly looked healthy, rejuvenated and conditioned.  It seems to be a real bonus to the salon as well.  The whole kit and kaboodle costs $350 for 12 services.  Peter recommends charging about $350 per application, but we already heard of one salon charging $700.

Most importantly, I felt really special to have had the chance to spend so much time with Coppola.  You would have thought the pope had set up shop at Global Beauty!  Apparently that HSN is a big deal!

Hi,
I heard that the Peter Copolla DOES CONTAIN Formaldehyde, that there are many names for Formaldehyde and they just use another name for it…Aldehyde.
There are so many Keratin products now and I am in search for the best one… any suggestions?? I have a friend who had the Bottanica Keratin…..anyone had this one done?? She loves it and her hair did come out AWESOME! She explained it as the same process as the Copolla one. She's had it done 2 times..both times it lasted about 3 months and no breakage.
I don't want to have any more damage done to my hair and would love ANY suggestions that I might be able to research!
Thanks!

I have what I would consider soft, fine, tightly waved hair. I am a mixed race woman, and have some areas that are slightly resistant to straightening, but for the most part have soft, fine hair.

I have had two Keratin Complex treatments about 4 months apart. The first treatment was about 10 days after I had a relaxer touch-up, so my hair was completely straight anyway. I loved it! I just had my second treatment recently with new growth being about 2 inches long. I am having some breakage at the point where the new growth meets the relaxed hair. It is so much easier to handle, and looks beautiful. It's silky and shiny and feels healthy. The only concern I have is that the treatment is drying to my hair, and that using the flat iron at high heat may be damaging. I use the flat iron nearly everyday to help tame the waves, but I barely touch the relaxed portion. I paid $275 for each treatment and it was so worth it. I just have to condition more often. I absolutely recommend it to anyone that struggles with their hair - especially in humidity. My hair still loses curl in humid weather, but looks great!

I had the Coppola Keratin Complex done in July and it is amazing! My hair is color treated, thick, and frizzy. It is not super curly, but is wavy. And because I am a blonde, my hair never really shined like a lot of my brunette friends. Well, this product made my hair really shiny. I used to have to flat iron my hair or hot roll it after blow drying to ease the frizz and smooth my hair out. Now, I can blow my hair dry with a round brush in about 15 minutes and go! I have never been able to do that before...it really is amazing. The only time I flat iron my hair now is for a special occasion, or when I just want to wear it super straight. This is the best thing that has ever happened to my hair. And my highlights have lasted a lot longer this time! I plan to have it done again in November, unless the product lasts longer then I expect it to.

I am also wondering if anyone out there has used this straightening product that is called Keratin Complex hair therapy. And if anyone has it would be nice to know how effective it works and for how long. I am cotemplating having it done in the salon but have very curly hair and am curious to know if anyone out there has tried it and if it's worth the money. iah21268
