Empire Schools Fight Back

Students from the three Illinois locations of Pennsylvania-based Empire Beauty Schools gathered at the flagship school in Lisle, Illinois, for a day of training in combating domestic abuse. Empire has partnered with National Cosmetology Association’s Cut it Out program to teach salon professionals to recognize the signs of abuse.

CEO and chairman of Empire Education Group Frank Schoeneman was joined by leaders in the battle against domestic abuse, including Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. The Director of NCA Cares Jeri Linus, Dawn Dalton, executive director of the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network and representatives of several domestic violence support organizations were also present at the event where Linus directed Cut it Out training for more than 300 students.
Empire includes this training as part of its curriculum and each school adopts a shelter in its community as part of the Empire Gives Back program.
Illinois Attorney General Madigan, an advocate for domestic abuse victims, said, “I am pleased to contribute to this important partnership between Cut it Out and Empire Beauty Schools. The cosmetology community is in a unique position to help women find the resources they need when this crime impacts them. The training will ensure that these stylists can assist victims for years to come.”
