Now that the little
statuettes have been handed out, it's time for the industry's top
stylists to weigh in on the looks from the big night. They voted for
their favorites, and here are all the winners, from Best Blondie to Best
in Show. Not surprisingly, there
was some overlap between our hair winners and the real winners that
night. Sandra Bullock was just one of the stand-outs.

This week's episode of Shear Genius 3 was not the most exciting for me.
The highlight for me was the sexy accent of guest judge Moulay
Yacboui. For the shortcut challenge contestants were asked to dry cut
curly hair into a graduated bob.

Oribe met with Maggie Mulhern in New York just hours before boarding a plane to LA to prepare Penelope Cruz for the Academy Awards. Using a new product to be launched in May, Oribe did a little backcombing, twisting and turning and VOILA.....Maggie Bardot.

If you're a colorist, you probably use aluminum foil on a daily basis for coloring hair. Just think for a moment how many strips of aluminum foil you use per client? How about every day...or every month? Did you know that one piece of aluminum can take up to 500 years to decompose? If you want to practice being more eco-friendly with coloring processing learn how you can use cotton instead.

Some people in the beauty industry were just born with natural talent.
For some, their niche is color, for others, it's nails. Some prefer
make-up while others hit it big with cutting. For Roni, it's all of the above.

As Stephen Covey says in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,
put first things first. For salon owners and stylists, I believe that
means: Reward the customers you have every chance you can. As salon
professionals we know no matter how talented we are, if we don’t have
clients we don’t have income. They are the first and most important
element of our success.

Michelle Williams has always been consistently stylish on the red
carpet—who can forget her at the Oscars a couple years ago in that
gorgeous chartreuse gown—and her appearance at the New York premiere of
her new Martin Scorsese flick, Shutter Island, was no exception. With
the help of hair stylist Laini Reeves, Williams was the definition of
understated glamour. Reeves, owner and Creative Director of Essensuals
London, took inspiration from William’s sophisticated Lanvin dress when
creating her simple, chic updo.

We are just movin’ right along! We’re all done with color now—and wow,
my brain feels like mush. I absolutely love color—so much!—but it’s
ridiculous how much chemistry and math is involved in color theory.
